Sewer construction to close lanes downtown on SW Harrison
Emergency sewer repair will close both eastbound lanes of SW Harrison Street between SW 4th and 1st avenues starting at 8:00 a.m. Monday, September 26, 2011. The lanes will be closed during work hours from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, October 7. The city's contractor may also working during the same hours on Saturdays.
The contractor will restore both lanes to through traffic after work hours. The contractor will maintain local access during work hours, but residents should expect delays.
TriMet and Portland Streetcar will maintain regular routes during construction. The 200 block SW Harrison bus stop (ID 2566) will close Monday and will remain closed for as long as 45 days. Bus riders should use stop 2580 at SW Harrison and 4th as an alternate.
Sidewalks and pedestrian walkways may close periodically during construction. Pedestrians and bicyclists should use caution when traveling through the construction zone.
This work is the first part of a project to repair a sinkhole and replace a failing sewer line on SW Harrison Street.
