Sewer repairs temporarily close SW Harrison and suspend Portland Streetcar service
Emergency sewer repairs have closed both lanes of SW Harrison Street eastbound between SW 1st and 4th avenues in downtown Portland until further notice. Portland Streetcar has temporarily shut down track service through the repair area as a safety precaution, with a TriMet bus bridge running replacement service from PSU to the South Waterfront. TriMet has also re-routed bus service around the repair area.
A contractor working on sewer repairs discovered a large cavity under the street. The contractor will fill the cavity and restore the surface to re-open traffic lanes and resume streetcar service, but there is no estimate yet on when that work will be complete.
