Spring Garden Park Daylighting
This project slows and treats stormwater runoff. The work daylighted over 300 feet of a seasonal stream in Spring Garden Park. For more than 75 years, the stream flowed through a stormwater pipe under the north end of the park.
In past winters, stormwater has pooled in the northern, and lowest, portion of the park, just over where the pipe ran below ground. The daylighted stream and stormwater runoff from the park now flow through five connecting rain gardens that allow water to soak into the ground as soil and plants filter pollutants. Any stormwater flowing out of the rain gardens drains back into the storm system.
