Celebrating a Historic Appointment to the Oregon Supreme Court
March 23, 2018
Today, Nick had the honor of attending the swearing-in ceremony of Adrienne Nelson, the newest member of the Oregon Supreme Court. Nick was joined by former State Senator Avel Gordly and Pastor T. Allen Bethel.
It was a historic moment because Justice Nelson is the first African-American to serve on our state’s highest court.
Justice Nelson served with distinction as a Multnomah County Circuit Court judge for nearly 12 years, until her appointment by Governor Brown on January 2nd.
Portland’s loss is Oregon’s gain. She will be a great asset to the Court and an inspiration to women and communities of color throughout the state.
