The Urban Forestry Management Plan coordinates the management and administration of Portland’s urban forest. The plan responds to environmental mandates, clarifies confusion about resource management and authority, coordinates the roles of the different agencies and bureaus, and addresses problems that remain from the 1995 plan.
The Urban Forest Action Plan was developed to implement the goals established in the management plan. The goals the action plan focuses on are to protect and restore the urban canopy, support the urban forest, and maximize the benefits of the urban forest for all citizens. Each action item was initially assigned a priority and time frame (current, early, 5-year, and 10-year). The implementation plan update summarizes annual progress and performance measures for the Urban Forest Action Plan, with efforts led by Portland Parks & Recreation Urban Forestry in cooperation with multiple City bureaus.
The Urban Forestry Management Plan provides direction for the maintenance and improvement of this important resource and makes recommendations to enhance and improve our city’s urban forest now and for the future
The Urban Forest Action Plan contains the major goals and desired outcomes of the management plan, along with 63 action items to attain those goals
