All Season Cycling Workshop
Wednesday, September 30th
St. Johns Community Center
8427 N Central
6:30 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.
When I now awake, the sun is still asleep. When I get the paper, the cat feels the cold air and isn't so sure about venturing out.
I need to have my rain jacket in my bag before departing, and the bike light is getting more use than it did three weeks earlier.
As I take the downward approach toward the lower level of the Steel Bridge, I see that it's raised so I scoot up to the top level and ride across. As I reach the pitch of the bridge, I happen to look over and see the barge parting the Willamette, stunning, picturesque. I stop and fumble for my camera and get a shot that's a quarter as good as the first look.
Today is the final day of the Bike Commute Challenge, but there is a whole autumn's worth of great bike commuting ahead. The scenery is often more dramatic, your connection to your surroundings more immediate, and the completion of your ride even more satisfying.
If you're a fair weather rider, stop on by St. Johns tonight and get ready for another season of great riding. If you can't make the workshop, you can contact SmartTrips at (503) 823-7191 with any questions about fall and winter bike commuting.
