(Dec. 17, 2015) Southwest Portland travelers should expect delays for several hours, as a power outage has affected traffic signals on major corridors including SW Barbur Blvd, Macadam Avenue and Terwilliger Blvd.
The public is advised to treat intersections with signals without power as all-way stops. Use caution and look for people walking and bicycling who may be more difficult to see in low-light conditions.
Some signals are returning to power and flashing red. Those are also treated as all-way stops.
Portland General Electric crews are working on restoring power. PBOT crews are prepared to restore signal function when power is restored.
It appears that an electrical equipment-related issue caused a fire on a utility pole, causing the outage, PGE said. Power was out to several thousands of customers at about 4:30 p.m. and has been restored to all but a few hundred customers as of about 5:30 p.m., PGE said.
