NE 122nd Avenue - Paving
NE 122nd Avenue (I-84 to Skidmore)
Funding
This project was approved in the FY 15/16 budget as a One-Time General Fund Surplus for roadway pavement maintenance as a result of City Council prioritizing maintenance projects in East Portland. The project is funded at $3.7 Million.
Project Scope
The limits of work on NE 122nd are from Interstate 84 on/off ramps to NE Skidmore. This is a contract paving job meaning the work includes large-scale improvements. Work includes a 3" grind and 3" pavement inlay, reconstruction of corners to meet current ADA standards, improvements to traffic signals, and new crash barriers to protect the columns of the I-84 over-crossing.
Project Schedule
Planning and design were completed in 2016. The winning bid was awarded in December 2016. Signal improvements and corner ramps were installed in winter 2016-17. Grinding and paving are expected to begin as soon as a period of dry weather emerges. The schedule is weather dependent. Expect intermittent daytime lane closures on weekdays throughout the project area when crews are grinding and paving. Completion is anticipated in late May.
