Clean Energy

  • Policies and Reports

    The City of Portland has a long and dedicated history to supporting policy and programs in order to advance clean energy policies, starting with the City’s first Energy Policy in 1979 and the country’s first Carbon Dioxide Reduction Strategy published in 1993.

  • Hydroelectric

    Lucid Energy, the Portland Water Bureau and the city of Portland will work together to permit and install an in-pipe hydroelectric system, the company's second in the country. 

  • Biogas 

    Portland’s Bureau of Environmental Services (BES) was actively seeking ways to be more sustainable by generating renewable energy at the Columbia Boulevard wastewater treatment plant. Today, the plant is successfully producing and beneficially using its digester gas (biogas).

  • Community Energy Project 

    Serving Portland since 1979, Community Energy Project (CEP), provides free workshops on small-scale weatherization and lead poisoning prevention, as well as free weatherization and safety repairs to low-income seniors and people with disabilities.

  • Kinetic Energy Power

    KinergyPower, an American company, has developed a way to capture kinetic energy from weight and momentum of decelerating traffic and convert it into electricity.

  • Clean Energy Works 

    Clean Energy Works Oregon (CEWO) is a non-profit program established to reduce energy waste by encouraging homeowners to take direct action. CEWO is transforming the old into new, restoring our communities and reviving our economy.

  • Solarize Portland 

    A volunteer driven effort to bring solar power to Portland homes
