Nina Mae Locke & Gloria Cash
Ninie Mae Locke came to Portland in 1943, to work in the Kaiser Shipyards. She was the first from her family to head out west. The information we have on Ninie Mae comes from her niece, Gloria Cash, who donated a collection of family photographs which are noted as the Campbell/Cash photographs. There are several images of Gloria Cash with her brother, at graduation, and with her aunt, Ninie Mae. The two images of Ninie Mae outside her Guild’s Lake home at Guild’s Lake Court show her dressed for work in the shipyard and dressed for a social engagement. The donation of the images and the information that was passed on through Gloria Cash give a snapshot into her family’s life in Portland from the 1940s to the 1960s.
