9002-05 CCTV Recording System Images (Steel Bridge Pedestrian Walkway)

Series is used to document that the walkway attached to the lift span on the lower deck of the Steel Bridge is clear of pedestrians and bicyclists before the bridge is raised. The CCTV system's two cameras monitor the lift span portion of the walkway by recording images of the walkway at 30 frames per second, 24 hours a day. The CCTV system is used as an additional safety precaution because the bridge tender does not have a line of sight to the walkway. The bridge is owned and operated by the Union Pacific Rail Road as agent for the city. Images are recorded in a continuous loop for a period of seven days after which time the system begins recording over the oldest images.

Retention: 7 days
