Council protects millions by tightening grant requirements

In January, we reported that City Council was providing grants with no competitive process and with limited oversight. In June, Council developed a new process that gives any organization the chance to compete for funds in defined program areas. Council also centralized the application and grant management process in the Office of Management and Finance to ensure that funded programs are implemented. These changes will help ensure that our audit recommendations are met -- that the most qualified organizations receive grants, and that grants achieve their intended results.
