Kristine Adams-Wannberg - Senior Management Auditor

Kristine started with Audit Services in July 2003, after working for five years in the Portland Office of Management and Finance as a Senior Financial Analyst. Prior to her work with the City of Portland Kristine worked for two years as an Assistant Analyst with the Oregon State Department of Administrative Services. Her previous experience includes working as a Graduate Teaching Assistant at the University of Utah, and as a Staff Assistant in the Idaho Governor’s Office.  

As a Senior Management Auditor, Kristine leads and mentors auditors in their work.  She is the Auditor In Charge of various audit projects.  She has served as the project manager for multiple years on Portland’s Fiscal Sustainability reports.  For five years she served as project manager on the Division's nationally recognized Service Efforts and Accomplishments report. The report won the Certificate of Achievement in Service Efforts and Accomplishments Reporting from the Association of Government Accounts for all five years she served as project manager.  In addition to audit work, she conducts staff training on audit processes and auditing standards and coordinates the office’s peer review. 

Kristine was the Auditor in Charge of the Fiscal Sustainability audit that won the Silver Knighton Award for Best Audit in 2013, and she was a team member for the audit that won the Gold Knighton Award in 2005.  She was awarded an Honorable Mention for Outstanding Contribution to the Local Government Auditing Quarterly in 2013.  

Kristine, along with Public Information Coordinator Robert Cowan, won a 2014 Gold Hermes Creative Award for publication design of 2013 report of Portland’s Fiscal Sustainability.  She and Robert also won a 2010 Platinum Hermes Creative Award and a Gold Hermes Creative Award for Publication Design Overall, for the design of the 2009 Resident Survey Report and the 19th Annual Service Efforts and Accomplishments Report: 2008-09, respectively. 

Kristine holds a master's degree from Portland State University, and a bachelor's degree from the College of Idaho. 

She is a Certified Internal Auditor and a Certified Government Auditing Professional.  She is a member of the Institute of Internal Auditors, the Association of Local Government Auditors (ALGA), and the Government Finance Officers’ Association.  She is a past chair of ALGA’s Professional Issues Committee, and currently serves on ALGA’s Publications Committee and Peer Review Committee.  She has been a conference speaker at various ALGA conferences and webinars on topics that range from staff training to internal control frameworks. 

Kristine serves as a public member of Portland Community College’s Audit Committee.
