    The Bureau of Development Services Announces Search for an Individual to Serve on the Development Review Advisory Committee

    The Bureau of Development Services (BDS) is seeking to fill a vacant position on the City of Portland Development Review Advisory Committee (DRAC). The current vacant position represents Small Businesses.

    Renters Now Receive Notification of Land Use Proposals

    Notifications of land use proposals are required to be mailed to the property owners of surrounding lots. On May 8, 2017, the Bureau of Development Services expanded those notifications to include renters.

    BDS Notifications now include Translation and Interpretation Information

    In an effort to increase and improve public access to the Bureau of Development Services (BDS), starting on February 1, 2017, notifications for land use review cases, enforcement cases, and residential demolitions include information about how to request language translation or other accommodations.

    Tenant Improvement Permits: Timing of Core/Shell and TI Permits

    BDS has determined that TI permits may also be issued when a core/shell permit meets Substantial Completion Guidelines.

    Effective June 9, 2017 – The Land Use Services Division is changing the process for how approved land use reviews get recorded with Multnomah County.

    New Service Announcement for Cannabis Industry

    Starting in June, the Bureau of Development (BDS) will offer reserved weekly meetings specific to the permitting needs of the cannabis industry. Two different tiers of meetings will be offered, depending on the type of cannabis business being proposed. These meetings will be scheduled on a first come, first served basis.

    Batch Permit Submittal and Review Process

    Effective May 1, 2017 - Projects with three or more detached dwelling units (designed to the residential code) on a single lot, or three or more dwelling units that are attached to one another, are submitted through the Batch Submittal and Review Process.

    Residential Permit Night Returns to the City’s Development Services Center

    Beginning April 6, 2017, the DSC will be open on Thursday nights from 5:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. to help homeowners and tenants with their residential 1 & 2 family dwelling projects.

To help ensure equal access to City programs, services and activities, the City of Portland will provide translation, reasonably modify policies/procedures and provide auxiliary aids/services/alternative formats to persons with disabilities.
