    BDS is proposing to amend administrative rules related to enforcement of Accessory Short-Term Rentals (ASTRs) that are allowed by the Portland Zoning Code Chapter 33.207.

    Public Hearings Scheduled for Proposed Amendments to Title 11, Trees, Regarding Tree Preservation for Private Trees in Development Situations.

    A new proposal will be heard by both the Planning and Sustainability Commission and the Urban Forestry Commission who will make recommendations to City Council.

    Civil Disturbance Possible in Downtown Portland on August 17, 2019

    City officials are preparing for a large protest on Saturday, August 17, 2019, in the downtown core of Portland. The protest is expected to remain in the downtown area, although activity may extend to adjacent areas, such as the Central Eastside. The timing of the event is not certain. A large police presence will be downtown to secure public safety.

    ProjectDox Version Update Occurring Friday, November 8th

    The Electronic Plan Review system (ProjectDox) will be unavailable starting at noon on November 8, 2019 for a version update. ProjectDox should be fully functional on Monday, November 11, 2019.

    Bicycle Parking Code Update & Proposed Fee Increase

    The need for the LUS fee increase is from covering the cost of increased time to review building permit plans for the new bike parking regulations. The fee increase is proposed to take effect on March 1, 2020, when the bike parking regulations take effect.

    City Council Considering Extension of Sunset Date for Tree Preservation of Private Trees in Development Situations

    City Council adopted amendments to Title 11, Trees, in 2016 to strengthen regulations pertaining to free preservation (especially preservation of large sized trees) in development situations on private property. The amendments were adopted with a scheduled end date of December 31, 2019.

    New Deadline on Building Code Appeal Applications

    Effective Thursday, November 7, 2019 the deadline for submitting a building code appeal changes from Monday to Thursday. The City must be in receipt of a building code appeal application no later than 9 a.m. on Thursday for an appeal request to be reviewed by the board the following Wednesday.

    Notice of New Portland Bureau of Transportation Administrative Rule TRN 1.28 Curb Extensions for Buildings and Planning Actions

    PBOT is seeking to adopt a new administrative rule. TRN 1.28 Curb Extensions for Buildings and Planning Actions clarifies under what conditions curb extensions will be required in relation to corner reconstruction.
