Septic permits are issued for work related to environmental soils & septic control such as cesspools, septic tanks and other sewage disposal systems.
A residential/commercial new construction permit is required for all new single family construction and new commercial/multi-family construction.
A residential/commercial repair permit is required to repair an on-site sewage disposal system.
A residential/commercial alteration permit is required to replace or increase the size of an on-site sewage disposal system.
A residential/commercial decommission permit is needed when the tank, cesspool or seepage pit needs to be pumped to remove all sewage and filled with sand, ¾” minus gravel, or the container needs to be removed and properly disposed of.
A commercial/residential on-site sewage disposal system certification is a program of Multnomah County managed by the Bureau of Development Services.
A Land Feasibility Study is conducted to evaluate and determine the suitability of the soils relative to a parcel of land where an on-site sewage system would be used.
