The Business Process Improvement (BPI) project expands opportunities for BDS employees, interagency partners, and our customers to improve the commercial building permit review process for new construction including the transition to ePlan review. The overall goal is to make employees' jobs easier and to improve efficiency and predictability for customers. Other project goals include developing and prioritizing a set of recommended improvements, creating a business process improvement approach that can be applied to other permit types and starting to lay the foundation for a continuous improvement culture.

Key components of the BPI project include:

  • An Employee Steering Committee made up of frontline employees and management experts to ensure that workgroup and bureau needs are met and represented. Click here to see Monthly Updates.
  • A Customer Advisory Committee made up of industry professionals and those who use BDS's services. Click here to view Monthly Meeting Minutes.
