Contract Negotiations in Process

The Information Technology Advancement Project (ITAP) is BDS' technology initiative to move the City's development review process to a web-based, paperless system. The web-based system will allow online access to the City bureaus' permitting and case services 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

ITAPOn December 12, 2012 City Council approved the Chief Procurement Officer (CPO) recommendation to enter into a contract with the ITAP Request for Proposal (RFP) processes top vendor, Sierra Systems. Approval of the CPO’s recommendation was the last step of the ITAP RFP selection process that started in February of 2012. The next big step for the ITAP project is contract negotiation, which is scheduled to occur over the next four months. As described in the last issue of the BDS Plans Examiner, Sierra Systems proposed a solid combination of proven software products and implementation services. The core software systems - Hansen Information Systems, the permit/case tracking system, and the digital plan review software, Avolve ProjectDox - were demonstrated to meet the City's business needs and provide a high level of functionality. Equally important, Sierra Systems demonstrated a keen understanding of our complex project needs, and articulated a well thought-out and thorough project management approach.

ITAP Customer Advisory Committee Seeks Additional Members

The IT Advancement Project’s Customer Advisory Committee is a citizen advisory committee, comprised of approximately twelve members who represent a variety of interests. The committee helps the ITAP Team identify any issues with current business processes that may be corrected in the new permit system or that can be addressed prior to system implementation. The Committee also contributes in other ways to the success of ITAP, by providing the ITAP Team with feedback and input on the project as it moves forward.

The committee is currently seeking three to four additional members. In particular, the committee seeks representatives from:

  • Small, Medium and Large-Sized Construction Companies performing either/or residential and commercial work
  • City residents interested in neighborhood safety and livability issues related to new construction and remodeling projects
  • Plumbing and/or Electrical Contractors

Project Manager, Ross Caron emphasizes, “Having the community that we serve involved in the ITAP project will help ensure that the City’s business and community needs and concerns are addressed as part of the new system.

The Committee meets for ninety minutes on the second Wednesday of each month at the 1900 Fourth Avenue Building.
