The 2013-14 Fix-It Fair season is underway bringing money-saving, health-promoting, utility-conserving support to Portland residents.
Fix-It Fairs are free community events that feature more than 50 exhibitors, workshops, lunch and childcare. Fairgoers can expect to find resources for weatherization and energy conservation, garden and habitat maintenance, healthy eating, sound finances and more.
Resolve to be resourceful in 2014, and visit a repair café at the Rosa Parks School Fix-It Fair on January 25, 2014. Repair cafés - AKA fix-it clinics or fixers collectives - are popping up all over Portland and they bring volunteers who like to fix things together with people who have items that need repair. The focus for the Fix-it Fair will be only on small appliances and garments. Bring your curiosity, patience and a DIY (Do It Yourself) attitude! There is no guarantee that all items can be repaired – you may need to find repair parts, do additional research or it may just not be feasible to repair some items – but you will leave with connections to a network of handy fixers.
Join us at one of the two remaining fairs this season:
Jan 25, 2014 | Rosa Parks Elementary School | 8960 N Woolsey Ave
Feb 22, 2014 | David Douglas High School | 1001 135th Ave (Includes workshops presented in Spanish)
