March 10, 2014. The Bureau of Development Services (BDS) strives to maintain the highest level of service possible, coordinating our resources to ensure the valued and critical services we provide to our customers and to the community are timely.
The Information Technology Advancement Project (ITAP), a BDS sponsored project to upgrade the City’s current legacy permit and case management software system, was started in July 2013. The goal of ITAP is to move the City's development review process to a paperless web-based system, with a scheduled go-live date of Winter 2015/16. The project will bring increased efficiencies and customer services to the City’s development review process.
Service Level Goals and Turnaround Timeline Impacts
Work on ITAP will have intermittent impacts on meeting service level goals and turn-around timelines for the City’s land use, plan review and inspection programs as staff dedicate time to advance the project’s design, development, testing and training phases. BDS and its interagency partners are committed to pro-actively communicating the timeframes and the duration of service level impacts caused by ITAP to both our employees and customers. BDS and its interagency partners will work collaboratively to explore options to maintain our service level commitments as ITAP moves forward.
The ITAP design phase will occur throughout 2014. For the next two months, ending April 30, 2014, staff will be working on the design of the module related to public works permitting and sanitation permits. During this time frame there will be delays in the City response to public works, building, and sanitation inquiries, permit applications, and inspections.
