This is a very exciting and dynamic time for the bureau! In 2014, the bureau hired 49 employees.* In addition, 18 BDS employees were promoted, and 24 transferred internally to new positions within the bureau. That’s a lot of growth and change, which is helping the bureau meet increases in workload and service level needs.
Additionally, hiring processes are already well underway to fill 44 additional BDS vacancies. Of those vacancies, 22 are positions that were approved in the 2014 Fall Budget Monitoring Process (BuMP). All of the hiring processes are in various states of completion, from the interview stage to the final background phase just prior to job offers.
In January 2015, BDS recruited for an Associate Planner, Structural Engineer, Management Analyst, and Assistant Business Systems Analyst. Additional career opportunities will arise as employees retire or change jobs.
City recruitments are posted Monday mornings on the City’s Online Career Center. Each BDS job announcement always lists two Optional Information Sessions designed to help applicants learn more about the job and about the City’s application process. Persons interested in applying for a position with BDS are strongly encouraged to attend one of the optional sessions listed in the recruitment.
