On Monday June 8, 2015 BDS staffers Nancy Thorington, BDS Code and Policy Analyst, and Kareen Perkins, Permitting Services Manager, attended the Concordia Neighborhood Association meeting to provide information on Demolition and Major Alteration/Addition code changes, which took effect April 20, 2015. They presented an abbreviated version of the Lunch & Learn presentation on the topic, held May 8, 2015. Maryhelen Kincaid (current chair of the Development Review Advisory Committee) who was in attendance stated, "Nancy and Kareen did an excellent job explaining the demo delay ordinance and fielding questions at the Concordia neighborhood meeting. I appreciate the effort that went into the presentation and know the Concordia neighbors do as well. This was a great start to future meetings."
Nancy Thorington said, “BDS is constantly looking at providing better information to our customers and the public on these code changes. Feedback is crucial in this effort. These outreach events provide a great forum to educate both interested parties, and our staff, on how the implementation is going.” Nancy also pointed out there is a portal on the BDS website for providing comments on the residential demolition and major residential alteration and addition ordinance.
Permitting Services Manager Kareen Perkins is currently working with North Portland Neighborhood Services to schedule another “neighborhood training”.
