Stay up to date on the Bureau of Environmental Services construction projects
Over one-third of Portland’s 2,500 miles of sewer pipes are more than 80 years old. Projects to replace or repair aging sewers protect water quality, public health, and the environment. Visit the Bureau of Environmental Services Construction Projects webpage for a list of projects completed, current, and future. This webpage also describes pre-construction activities, methods used, what to expect during, and watershed restoration projects.
Stormwater Management for all development, redevelopment, and improvement projects
Considering a project to deal with stormwater? Consult the Stormwater Management Manual. The Stormwater Management Manual (SWMM) provides policy and design requirements for stormwater management throughout the City of Portland. The requirements in the manual apply to all development, redevelopment, and improvement projects within the City of Portland on private and public property and in the public right-of-way. Environmental Services completed revising the Stormwater Management Manual in 2013 to meet current regulatory requirements and recently adopted policies.
You can use the links on this page to access the manual or pick up a free compact disc version of the 2014 SWMM at the Development Services Center, 1900 SW 4th Avenue in Portland. To get a free CD by mail, please call 503-823-7103.
