Bureau Assessment Update
In late November 2015, the BDS Organizational Assessment Report from the Coraggio Group, a Portland-based consulting firm, was provided to BDS. The 2015 report reflects several months of work by the consultants in assessing the bureau’s health, culture, and organizational structure. The assessment was focused on identifying opportunities to improve service to our customers and the community and create a more healthy and productive workplace for our employees.
The assessment, along with a customer survey, employee workplace survey, and other initiatives and activities, is part of BDS ongoing organizational improvement work after the significant reductions and then expansion the bureau has experienced over the last few years.
Recently, staff workgroups have been meeting to identify linkages between the assessment and the bureau’s Strategic Plan, and to develop action plans for the specific areas identified in the assessment, including:
- Communication
- Employee Evaluations
- Equity
- Quality Control
Consultants from the Coraggio Group will also be working with BDS Equity Program staff and the BDS Equity Committee to coordinate follow-up on equity issues and coordination with the bureau’s Equity Plan.
