If you’ve read recent issues of the Plans Examiner, you know that we’ve been working on a new 5-Year Strategic Plan. A draft plan was initially produced in 2014, but implementation was delayed in order to allow other organizational improvement processes to be completed, including an employee survey, an organizational assessment, a customer survey, and the bureau’s Equity Roadmap. These processes have been substantially completed and resulting changes are being implemented throughout the organization.
Throughout 2016 we made updates to the draft Strategic Plan to reflect and incorporate the results of the other organizational improvement processes, and we are now in the final stages of reviewing and editing the draft Plan. BDS employees and stakeholder groups will be reviewing the updated draft Plan in the coming weeks to make final edits.
One recent change has been the addition of Equity, Diversity & Inclusion as a focus area of the Plan. Strategic Plan focus areas now include:
- Efficient & Effective Services
- High Performing & Diverse Workforce
- Communication & Community Engagement
- High Quality Customer Service
- Equity, Diversity & Inclusion
- Technology Integration
