BDS Notifications now include Translation and Interpretation Information
In an effort to increase and improve public access to information, all BDS land use review, residential demolition and enforcement notifications now include information on how to request language translation, interpretation and other accommodations.
“Everybody who lives or works in the City of Portland is a potential stakeholder of the Bureau of Development Services,” says BDS Interim Director Rebecca Esau. “We want people to know that we are committed to increasing access to our services and that we provide accommodations for individuals with disabilities and language translation for individuals with limited English proficiency.” While these accommodations are mandated by Title VI of the federal Civil Rights Act, at BDS there is a commitment to implement equitable service delivery, outreach, and recruitment.
The following “Translation and Interpretation” message is being included in all BDS notifications:
