The Bureau of Development Services Announces Search for Persons to
Serve on the Adjustment Committee
April 28, 2017. The Bureau of Development Services has announced a search for interested persons to fill two vacancies on the City of Portland Adjustment Committee.
The Adjustment Committee reviews appeals of Adjustment requests to the development standards in the Portland Zoning Code, such as building height setbacks or lot coverage, landscaping, parking etc., of Title 33 (Planning and Zoning Regulations). The Adjustment Committee meets the first and third Tuesday of each month at 2:30 pm. Because the Committee meets only when an appeal is filed on an administrative decision for an Adjustment, the Committee typically meets less than once a month.
Committee members serve four-year terms and may be re-appointed for one additional four-year term. The Committee consists of seven members, none of whom may hold public elective office. The Committee must include three persons representing the Public at Large, two members in either Urban Design, Architecture, or Landscape Architecture, and two members experienced in either Engineering, Financing Construction, Management of Buildings, or Land Development. The members are appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by the City Council.
Currently, one position is available in the “Engineering, Financing Construction, Management of Buildings, or Land Development” category. A second position will become vacant June 30, 2017, in the Public-at-Large category. We are looking to have both positions filled as soon as possible.
Applications should be submitted to the Office of Neighborhood Involvement with a cover letter describing the applicant’s interest, background and experience, or a resume. We are requesting that applications be submitted by Friday, May 12, 2017.
For more information about the Adjustment Committee, you may contact Douglas Hardy with Bureau of Development Services at 503-823-7816, or firstname.lastname@example.org.
