On October 1, 2019, Portland Parks & Recreation Urban Forestry will implement an updated set of the Approved Street Tree Planting Lists. Lists are updated on a 3-year cycle to ensure that trees are continuously evaluated for right-of-way planting suitability. Through the process of evaluating trees, invaluable feedback was collected from community stakeholders (including developers, growers, nurseries, local tree care providers, landscapers, community members, and professional partners) providing a range of perspectives as updated lists were built. The result of these efforts reflect the best possible choices for Portland’s street trees, with careful consideration of many factors, including: safety, site suitability, accessibility, longevity, and environmental and public health services.
Please check our permitting website on October 1, 2019 to view or download PDFs of updated planting lists and note that planting permits issued on or after this date will reference the updated lists. For questions, contact: email@example.com.
