The third annual Ecoroof Portland event took place on Friday, March 18th at the Oregon Convention Center.
Ecoroof Vendors
Close to 40 ecoroof researchers, designers, installers, and suppliers from throughout the region participated in the event.
Keynote Speakers and Demonstration Project
Wolfgang Ansel joined us for an entire week of tours and discussions. His visit culminated at the Ecoroof Portland event, where he presented a fascinating comparison of green roof policies from Europe, Asia, and the U.S.
Paul Kephart followed with an overview of ecological design. He explained the design process for several projects he's participated in that include ecoroofs and other ecological elements. It was especially interesting to learn about the innovative steps involved in the design of the California Academy of Sciences.
ACE Academy instructors and students arrived early and began building the demonstration structure and ecoroof project. The students were able to interact with the participating vendors and show off their skills. Thanks much to Marjan Rotting, Michael Taylor, and the enthusiastic students for contributing such a valuable element to the event!
What a great event! We hope everyone that attended found it educational and inspiring. Thanks again to all that helped and participated!
