Become a Green Street Steward!

Community members have asked how they can participate in the care and maintenance of Portland's green streets. Environmental Services has responded with the Green Street Steward program. If you live, work or run a business in Portland you qualify to be a part of this program.

Role of Green Street Stewards

The city takes care of green streets and welcomes your help. As a Green Street Steward you can help with simple activities that include picking up trash, removing leaves and debris, and occasional weeding and watering.

Participating in the Green Street Steward program is a rewarding way to contribute to your community and keep Portland’s rivers clean. Read more about the program and find out how you can become a Green Street Steward.

How to register

When you sign up to become a Green Street Steward, you will be directed through a series of steps including:

• Create a personal account on www.portlandoregon.gov.
• Accept the Green Street Steward disclaimer.
• Select a green street to adopt!
• Once you've adopted a green street, we'll contact you to schedule a quick, one-on-one training at your adopted green street. We'll provide you with a Green Street Stewards Maintenance Guide with simple guidelines to follow.

I'm already a Green Street Steward 

For stewards with green streets on streets that are very busy with cars, stay on the sidewalks and leave the work on the street side to City contractors who can set up traffic control when they do maintenance. Maintain your green street during daylight hours and avoid times of busy car traffic
