Downspout Disconnection Program

Downspout disconnection area mapBetween 1993 and 2011, Portland's Downspout Disconnection Program disconnected over 56,000 downspouts from the city's combined sewer system in the target areas shown on this map.

The program no longer offers free work or incentives for disconnecting downspouts but program staff are available to make sure that property owners are satisfied with any work done by the Downspout Disconnection Program.

Thanks to the many property owners and volunteers who helped disconnect downspouts over the years. Your participation removes over 1.3 billion gallons of stormwater from Portland's combined sewer system each year.

Do not reconnect downspouts disconnected through this program.

If you believe you need to make changes to your disconnected downspouts, please contact he Downspout Disconnection Program at 503-823-7740. Go to Clean River Rewards for more information about managing stormwater on private property.

Routine maintenance of gutters and downspouts is the property owner's responsibility. You can download a fact sheet  for tips on proper care and maintenance of your downspouts.
