Crystal Springs Creek Restoration

Crystal Springs Creek photo by Andrew Fedchenko

Crystal Springs Creek is a major tributary to Johnson Creek and originates from springs near Reed College and the Eastmoreland Golf Course. Environmental Services is working to enhance conditions in the creek for the benefit of native fish and wildlife and to improve water quality.

Crystal Springs Creek is 2.4 miles long but offers significant habitat for salmon, birds and other wildlife. The naturally cool and steady year-round flow in the creek provides important rearing and refuge areas for juvenile salmon.

Thanks to the efforts of over 20 partners, nearly half the length of Crystal Springs has been restored. Today, salmon find colder, cleaner water and more abundant food and shelter.
