About Watershed Services
Watershed Services works to protect and improve watershed health by:
- Planning and implementing natural resource restoration and green infrastructure projects and programs
- Coordinating with other city bureaus and providing watershed science expertise to citywide plans and public works projects
- Monitoring and evaluating watershed conditions and project effectiveness
- Integrating comprehensive watershed planning with stormwater and sewer system plans to improve water quality and overall watershed health
- Providing technical assistance and grants to promote sustainable development practices and community watershed restoration
- Ensuring the city’s compliance with state and federal fish and wildlife regulations and other environmental regulations and policies
- Supporting community stewardship of watersheds and green infrastructure
We work closely with other Environmental Services groups, other city bureaus, community organizations and state, federal and regional partners to achieve cleaner rivers and streams in Portland.
The Watershed Services Group is organized into three divisions:
- Watershed Programs Division
- Science Integration Division
- Stormwater System Division
