These report cards are based on information from the 2019 Watershed Health Index. This report card represents a snapshot of current watershed conditions. So far, we have scores for two complete data sets from 2015 and 2019. We did not expect watershed conditions to change a lot in 4-years’ time, and the changes we do see are largely due to expected variability in the data. Trend information will be available in the future.
Each Portland watershed has unique history, geography, natural resources, and land uses. For that reason, scores from one watershed shouldn't be compared against another watershed’s scores.
The report cards apply to only the portion of the watershed within the Portland city limits. Portland shares its watersheds with other jurisdictions upstream and downstream. Johnson Creek, for example, flows through two counties and several cities. Some of the report card scores pertain to things we can improve in Portland. Improvements in other scores will require continued cooperation with neighboring communities and regional efforts.
