Environmental Services has completed demolition of the Alder Pump Station and micropile drilling as part of the seismic portion of the Alder Pump Station Upgrade Project. Crews have begun forming and casting the concrete pile caps, which will form the new foundation for the pump station about 30 feet below grade.
The city constructed the pump station at SE Water Avenue and SE Alder Street in 1952. This upgrade project will improve reliability, increase pumping capacity, and help prevent sewage releases to protect public health, water quality, and the environment. Construction of upgrades will go through several phases and continue through the summer of 2019. Typical work hours will be 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, with construction the same hours on Saturday if needed.
