Environmental Services, the City’s sewer and stormwater utility, is working on a public sewer project that will abandon 720 feet of large diameter pipe built in 1902, and replace a line (approximately 200 feet of pipe) that is deteriorating due to age. The project will be constructed in two phases, first the abandonment of the 1902 line, followed by the repair and construction work. This project will help protect public health, water quality, and our environment.
In January of 2018, crews completed work to abandon and decommission the old sewer line from 1908 that runs through the grounds of the Davinci Arts Middle School. This process installed a plug in one end of the line and then pumped grout in to the old line. This shored up the line and will prevent sinkholes or collapses in the future.
Currently, design work for the pipe repair in NE Everett Street is underway. Construction work will begin in the Fall of 2018.
