Environmental Services ‐ the City’s sewer and stormwater utility ‐ has completed design on a public sewer project that will replace 350 feet of sewer line in SE Everett Street that is deteriorating due to age. This project will help protect public health and our environment by reducing the possibility of sewer backups and sewage releases to homes, businesses, and streets.
The Portland Water Bureau will begin relocating water lines in SE Everett Street between SE 26th and SE 27th in late December 2018 or early January 2019. Work on the water lines will include occasional outages along Everett Street between 24th and 28th, and on 26th between Everett and Flanders. Outages are expected to last only a few hours at a time. Notice of work on the water lines will be provided by the Portland Water Bureau prior to work beginning.
Sewer construction is anticipated to begin in the spring of 2019. We will be notifying neighborhood residents and nearby property owners in advance of the work once we have finalized the construction start date.
In January of 2018, crews completed work to abandon and decommission the old sewer line from 1908 that runs through the grounds of the Da Vinci Arts Middle School. This process installed a plug in one end of the line and then pumped grout in to the old line. This shored up the line and will prevent sinkholes or collapses in the future.
You can expect the following construction impacts in the area:
