Environmental Services ‐ the City’s sewer and stormwater utility ‐ will begin construction soon on a public sewer project that will replace 350 feet of sewer line in NE Everett Street that is deteriorating due to age. This project will help protect public health and our environment by reducing the possibility of sewer backups and sewage releases to homes, businesses, and streets.
The Portland Water Bureau has completed relocation of water lines in NE 26th Avenue between NE Everett Street and NE Flanders Street.
Sewer construction will begin during the week of April 8th, 2019 and will take approximately six months to complete.
In January of 2018, crews completed work to abandon and decommission the old sewer line from 1908 that runs through the grounds of the Da Vinci Arts Middle School. This process installed a plug in one end of the line and then pumped grout in to the old line. This shored up the line and will prevent sinkholes or collapses in the future.
