Sewer Pressure Management Project: Upshur Shaft (NW 11th Ave between Northrup and Overton)

Environmental Services recently completed a project to install an air pressure valve and underground vault near the busy intersection of NW 11th Avenue between NW Northrup and NW Overton Streets. View the project map at

This equipment will reduce the rare build-up of air pressure in the public sewer system that can occur during intense rainstorms. This project will help to ensure the sewer system operates safely and efficiently.

This was a major construction project, and we know it meant significant inconvenience for many people living and working in the area. We appreciate your cooperation and patience during construction.

Environmental Services staff and representatives notify the public in advance of these activities, provide information throughout the project, and work to resolve problems during construction. Our intent is to identify concerns and minimize disruption as much as possible while completing these necessary projects.

Now that the work is completed in your area, we ask for your help to measure how we did. Please fill out the survey below. Your response will help us identify what worked and what needs improvement for our future projects.

If you have additional questions or suggestions, please contact Cheryl Kuck at 503-823-7898 or email
