Environmental Services – your sewer and stormwater utility – is designing a project to repair, replace, or upsize several thousand feet of public sewer pipe in the middle part of the Eliot Neighborhood. Many of the existing combined sewer pipes are deteriorating due to age or are undersized for the sewer and stormwater flows in this area. This project will protect the public and the environment by increasing the capacity of the existing sewer system, which will reduce the possibility of sewage releases to homes, businesses and streets during heavy rain events.
Construction is anticipated to begin in the summer of 2020 and will take about a year and a half to complete.
Over the next several months, work crews will survey the mid-Eliot neighborhood, access sewers from manholes to inspect pipes and place temporary paint markings on the pavement to mark the locations of pipes and other underground utilities. Information gathered will help us determine the repair locations, select construction methods, and minimize construction impacts on residents and businesses.
The Mid-Eliot Sewer and Stormwater project in design is separate from the South Eliot Sewer and Stormwater project currently under construction.
