Environmental Services – your sewer and stormwater utility – is continuing a study to determine the best way to replace or repair a large public sewer pipe that runs under Duniway Park and under private property south of Sam Jackson Road just west of Duniway Park. This section of sewer pipe is showing signs of deterioration due to age.
Information gathered during this study will help us determine if segments of the sewer pipe should be repaired where they currently are or if they should be relocated. The study will also help us select the appropriate construction methods to replace or repair the sewer, and minimize construction impacts on residents and businesses.
The study is expected to continue until spring 2020. Once the study is complete the design phase of the project will begin. Sewer construction is expected to start spring 2021 or later.
Beginning the week of December 16, 2019, and continuing over the next few months, work crews will periodically be in the study area to perform investigative activities. Activities may include marking the location of sewer pipes and underground utilities with temporary paint, surveying the land, and project team site visits.
