Environmental Services has finished design on a project to upgrade the pump station located at 11006 SE Yamhill St in the Mill Park neighborhood. This project will replace a piece of equipment inside the pump station called a “grinder.”  The grinder helps prevent clogging by shredding rags, wipes, and other solids in the sewer system in to small pieces so that sanitary sewage can be pumped to the wastewater treatment plant.

This upgrade will help protect public health and the environment by reducing potential flooding and sewage backups to homes, businesses, streets and natural areas.

Construction is anticipated to begin in late April and take about two months to complete.

What to Expect During Construction

  • We are working closely with Floyd Light Middle School to make sure school activities are not affected.

  • Normal park use will not be affected, but the end of SE Yamhill St where it enters the park will be partially closed during construction.

  • Work Site Safety is our top priority for every construction site. You can help keep the area safe by staying clear of all construction activities and keeping children, pets and vehicles out of construction areas.

  • Noise, Vibration, and Dust from construction may disrupt normal neighborhood activity.

  • Traffic Delays are NOT expected, but you may notice additional vehicle traffic as materials and supplies are delivered to the site.

  • Sewer, Water, and Other Utilities will remain in service during construction

  • Typical Work Hours are 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, but the contractor may schedule work during the same hours on Saturdays.

  • Schedule Changes and Inactivity during construction phases can occur due to a variety of factors, including conditions underground, weather, traffic impacts, subcontractor schedules and availability of materials.
