Environmental Services is designing a project to replace and upsize 562 feet of sewer pipe in the Kerns neighborhood. The pipes in this neighborhood are too small for current sewer and stormwater flows. This project will also build greenstreet facilities to help manage stormwater before it enters the combined sewer system. In addition, this project will provide additional capacity to the system in anticipation of the upcoming Sullivan's Crossing pedestrian and bicycle bridge that is being designed and built by PBOT. This project will help protect public health and our environment by helping to control flooding risks and reducing the possibility of sewer backups and sewage releases to homes, businesses, and streets.
The design phase of the project is expected to continue through the winter of 2018/19. Construction is scheduled to begin in the spring of 2019. Specific project schedules and construction information will be available when the design team has completed additional investigations and design work.
