SW Yamhill Sewer Extension Project

Environmental Services will begin construction on the week of November 18 for a project to extend the public sewer system on SW Yamhill Street between SW St. Claire and SW King avenues. The project will construct 100 feet of mainline sewer pipe and four service laterals, which will connect private properties to the new public sewer. This project will resolve nonconforming sewer connections for four properties.

The project will construct a sewer extension in SW Yamhill St between SW St. Claire and SW King avenues (see map).

Construction is expected to begin on the week of November 18 and take about two months to complete. General work hours will be from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday, and Saturday if needed.

Construction Methods

Our city contractor, Titan Utilities, LLC, will dig a trench in the street to install the pipes. Crews will also construct four sewer service laterals. After sewer construction, crews will backfill the trenches and apply a temporary asphalt patch. After all work has passed inspection, crews will return to restore the patched trenches with a fresh new asphalt surface.  

Pre-Construction Activities

Before the major pipe work begins, crews will be in the area preparing for construction. Activities may include locating and marking utilities, trimming trees and installing tree protection, staging equipment and materials, and setting up parking and traffic controls.

What to Expect During Construction

The City’s Office of Procurement Services is currently reviewing this project and its construction contract options. When Procurement Services completes their review, Environmental Services will notify the public of the construction schedule. You can expect the following impacts during construction:

  • Work Hours: From 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday. If necessary, work may occur the same hours on Saturday.
  • Traffic Delays: Expect traffic delays in and near the work area.
  • Driveway Access: Construction may temporarily block your driveway when crews are working in front of your property.
  • No Parking: Little or no on-street parking will be allowed in and near work zones, especially during work hours.
  • Equipment Storage: Equipment and materials may be stored on streets overnight.
  • Services Maintained: Sewer, water, and other utilities are expected to remain in service during construction.
  • Assistance: A city inspector will be on-site during work hours and may be able to assist you with an immediate need during construction.
  • Emergency: In case of a sewer backup or basement flooding emergency, contact City Maintenance at 503-823-1700, press 1, and give them the project number E11058. The hotline is staffed all hours and all days.
