10 – 11 a.m. Introduction to Ecoroofs in Portland
This session will provide an ecoroof primer, including a description of costs and benefits, incentives and resources available for Portland residents, and an overview of the event program for Ecoroof Portland.

A comparison of Green Roof Policies in Europe, Asia and the US: Requirements for the Successful Development of a Green Roof Market
Wolfgang Ansel is currently the Director of the International Green Roof Association (IGRA). IGRA`s targets include the worldwide promotion of the ecological Green Roof idea, an international knowledge transfer in the field of Green roofs and the stimulation of international standards for good practices and reliable Green Roof technology.
Trends and Innovations for Green Roofs Today
Paul Kephart is the President of Rana Creek Habitat Restoration in Carmel, California. Paul has applied his ecological design training on noteworthy large-scale architectural icons, including Gap Headquarters, California Academy of Sciences, and the Vancouver Convention Center. Paul is sought after for his skill as an innovator and pioneer in the fields of environmental planning and ecological design. Paul has developed his profound understanding of natural processes over the course of almost thirty years of diverse ecological work including ecological design, horticulture, botanical surveying, biological assessment, watershed management, mitigation, land stewardship and resource management planning.

A live construction and demonstration project by ACE Academy
Throughout the day, students and faculty from ACE Academy (Architecture, Construction, and Engineering) will be on-hand constructing a model ecoroof project. The model design will mimic a future BES facility, and will include a live ecoroof installation.
