Riverview Subwatershed Facts
Covers 353 acres
- Contains some of the most intact aquatic habitat along the Willamette River
- Almost one mile of natural Willamette River bank
- About three miles of open stream channels
- 274 acres of parks and open space
- 229 acres of the subwatershed are forested
- River View Cemetery property contains forest, riparian and wetland complexes
- The forested areas and streams of the subwatershed provide an important link between the West Hills, the Ross Island-Oaks Bottom ecosystem complex to the east, and Tryon Creek State Natural Area to the south
- The City of Portland has acquired 146 acres of the River View Cemetery property to be preserved as
natural area
- Impervious area, mostly streets, covers about 9% of the watershed, one of the lowest ratios in the city
- Special Status Species found here include bald eagle, peregrine falcon, Northern river otter, silver-haired bat
