Ramps connecting SW Multnomah Boulevard with I-5 will temporarily close next week
Sewer construction will temporarily close on and off ramps between I-5 and SW Multnomah Boulevard beginning early next Monday, October 3, 2011. The closure will last about 45 days and the ramps should re-open by mid-November.
SW Multnomah Boulevard will remain open during construction. The exit from I-5 south to SW Multnomah Boulevard westbound (Exit 296B) and the entrance to I-5 north from eastbound SW Multnomah Boulevard will close. Signs will direct traffic to detours to and from the freeway.
I-5 southbound traffic can use Exit 297-Terwilliger/Bertha to access Multnomah Boulevard westbound via Barbur Boulevard. Eastbound Multnomah Boulevard traffic can take SW 40th Avenue south to SW Capitol Highway and follow signs to I-5 north at SW Huber Street to reach I-5 north.
Environmental Services is repairing the Burlingame Trunk Sewer by inserting a liner in the sewer to form a new interior pipe surface. The contractor needs to pump sewage around the repair area through surface pipes that will temporarily block the ramps that connect Multnomah Boulevard with I-5.
