Possible sewage release to Tryon Creek
Workers at the City of Portland’s Tryon Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant discovered sewage leaking from a junction in an elevated sewer pipe at about 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 12. City maintenance crews were able to repair the leak by 10:00 a.m. today (Friday, April 13, 2012).
The treatment plant is located in Lake Oswego at 195 Foothills Road near the confluence of Tryon Creek and the Willamette River.
From the time employees discovered the leaking junction until repair crews stopped the flow, several hundred gallons of sewage probably leaked onto the ground. Because the site is about 40 feet south of Tryon Creek, the public should avoid contact with the creek in that area today and tomorrow.
