Willamette River sewage leak repaired
March 28, 2013
Repair crews have stopped a small sewage leak to the Willamette River from a stormwater outfall pipe. The sewage was leaking from a pipe on the west side of the river just south of the Hawthorne Bridge.
In early March, Environmental Services field investigators confirmed that pipes carrying sanitary sewage were leaking into the stormwater outfall. Repair and maintenance crews located several sewer pipes leaking to the stormwater outfall and this week completed filling the connections with concrete and plugging the leaks.
