August 1, 2013
Streetscape improvements and sewer construction on SE Division Street
Sewer construction closed SE Division Street to through traffic between SE 26th Avenue and SE 29th Avenue for 19 days starting Monday, August 5, 2013 at 7:00 a.m. Construction hours are 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. seven days a week, but Division Street is closed between SE 26th and SE 29th avenues all hours and all days until construction is complete. The Portland Noise Office granted a noise variance for nighttime construction on this project. The work is replacing 80- to 100-year-old sewers to improve system reliability and protect public health.
During the closure, eastbound traffic is detouring to SE Clinton Street and westbound traffic to SE Grant Street.
Second Division Street Closure Coming September 4th
After sewer construction is complete on Division Street between SE 26th and 29th avenues, construction will close another segment of SE Division Street between SE 33rd and SE 37th avenues 24 hours a day, seven days a week for about seven days. Work on that segment will begin on Wednesday, September 4, 2013.
During the closure on Division between SE 33rd and SE 37th avenues, traffic will be detoured onto SE Clinton Street (eastbound) and SE Grant Street (westbound). Eastbound traffic on SE Division Street will be temporarily detoured to SE Woodward Street during the SE Portland Sunday Parkways event on Sunday, August 25.
The sewer construction is part of the Division Streetscape Project, a joint project between the bureaus of Environmental Services and Transportation to improve the sewer system, add new green stormwater management infrastructure, improve the streetscape and reconstruct streets on SE Division Street from SE 11th Avenue to SE Cesar Chavez Boulevard. Work on the Division Streetscape Project began in May 2013 and is scheduled to continue through fall 2014.
