SE Alder closed to through-traffic between 6th and Grand
September 19, 2013
A sewer construction project has closed SE Alder Street between SE 6th and Grand avenues to through traffic (http://goo.gl/maps/FyiOH). The closure is in effect 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Construction will take three to four months to complete.
Flaggers are maintaining local access to the work area for motorists. The crosswalk on the west side of SE 6th and Alder is closed for the duration of the project. All other crosswalks and sidewalks in the construction zone are open to accommodate pedestrians and bicycles.
Work crews are installing an underground vault on SE Alder between SE 6th and Grand to store combined sewage during heavy rain storms.
The Bureau of Environmental Services works with Portland residents and businesses to protect water quality, public health, and the environment through wastewater collection and treatment, sewer construction and maintenance, stormwater management, and stream and watershed restoration.
