Students and neighbors of the Franciscan Montessori Earth School on SE 147th and Clinton recently completed their school rain garden and interpretation project. The raingarden is in the school courtyard and can be viewed by students in classrooms and visitors along a windowed corridor. With a BES Community Watershed Stewardship Program grant, the students completed the raingarden and created art to teach people about the importance of wetlands. The art is in the form of raindrop poetry overlooking the raingarden shown here in fall colors – proving that managing stormwater can be education and beautiful!
