Sewer work to close N Killingsworth Street eastbound between Greeley and Delaware

November 15, 2013

Sewer construction will close the eastbound lane of N Killingsworth Street between N Greeley and N Delaware avenues starting at 7:00 a.m. on Monday, November 18. The lane will be closed 24 hours a day, seven days a week for about 12 weeks. The westbound lane of Killingsworth will remain open but construction will cause delays and motorists should use alternate routes.

Flaggers will maintain limited local access for eastbound traffic. The construction project will cause congestion and delays. Drivers, even those travelling westbound, should avoid the area unless they live or have business on N Killingsworth. A signed detour will direct traffic to N Rosa Parks Way and N Going Street.

Sidewalks will remain open on both sides of Killingsworth. Some crosswalks will close as the work zone moves between Greeley and Delaware.

This work is part of the $6.5-million dollar Overlook Sewer Replacement Project to replace or repair about 17,000 feet of sewer pipes in poor condition. The city installed many of the sewers before 1920. The project will reduce the possibility of breaks, leaks, blockages and sewage releases to homes, businesses and streets.
